As of October 1, 2023, this ground ceased to exist in the state of Maryland for any cases filed after that date. A limited divorce was Maryland's statutory version of a legal separation. The granting of a limited divorce means that the spouses no longer have to live together as Husband and Wife, and the court can determine custody, spousal and child support, but they are still married and still own property as Husband and Wife.
