In Maryland, there is a statute that deals with what happens if a parent with custody of a child is deployed.  Any order entered because of deployment shall reference that deployment, and upon return, references the deployment and any hearing on a custody change because of deployment shall be expedited.  The non-deployed parent must reasonably accommodate the leave schedule of the deployed parent upon proper notice, and acilitate communication with the deployed parent.
